Tuchel flutters his eyelashes at United

- By CHRIS WHEELER

THOMAS TUCHEL has dropped a hint that he wants to return to the Premier League amid speculation linking him with the Manchester United job. The former Chelsea boss, 50, has emerged as one of the favourites to take over at Old Trafford if Sir Jim Ratcliffe decides to axe Erik ten Hag. Tuchel is set to leave Bayern Munich despite leading his team to the Champions League semi-finals, and United could appoint him without paying any compensation. ‘This is a tricky road where you lead me. I’d rather not answer,’ Tuchel told TNT Sports before last night’s game at Real Madrid when asked about a possible return to the EPL. ‘But it is no secret that I loved it at Chelsea, I loved it in England, and I loved it in the Premier League for sure. It was a very, very special time in England and I remember it very well.’ United last night denied making any formal contact with Tuchel despite reports in Germany of informal talks taking place. The club’s focus is on seeing out their remaining three Premier League games and the FA Cup final before they make a decision on Ten Hag’s position at the end of the season. Although Tuchel, who won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup at Chelsea, is known to be interested in the job, United have concerns over his confrontational approach. The German fell out with several players and figures at Bayern before it was announced in February that he will leave in the summer.
