The Knight Residence, Edinburgh

- Reviewed by Morag and Robin Calder from Stirling

As we arrived early in Edinburgh we went straight to The Knight Residence to leave our suitcase. When we arrived there the concierge said our apartment was ready and we were taken straight there. It consisted of a twin-bedded room, a double bedroom, lounge/dining area, bathroom and kitchen. It was immaculate and had everything available to make our stay comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with washer/drier, fridge, dishwasher and all the usual crockery and cutlery. We were also provided with a basket of various types of breakfast staples, sufficient for us to enjoy breakfast on both mornings.

They are very conscious of the environment and a box was provided in the kitchen for us to place our recyclable materials. Each apartment is fitted with its own boiler so you can control the central heating independently of the whole building.

The apartments are within walking distance of the castle, the Royal Mile and the Grassmarket where there are numerous eating places to suit all budgets. ranges. There is also a mini-supermarket nearby if you want to self-cater in your apartment. Although the apartments are in a busy area, there was no nocturnal noise to disturb a good night’s sleep.

Our name was on our apartment door and also at the front door, so any visitors could ring the bell to make direct contact. The staff were very accommodating and the personal touch of referring to us each day by our first names was lovely.

I would recommend The Knight Residence to anyone wishing to visit Edinburgh. Prices from £115 per night
