As soon as we arrived at Stobo Castle, a stressful rush hour journey out of the city was forgotten. From the first glimpse of the fairy-tale castle perched on the hillside, to the serene opulence of the spa and striking views of rolling countryside, Stobo is a little haven of perfection.
On arrival we were shown to our room, which was vast, with two king size beds, sofa and comfy chairs, large en-suite bathroom, and gorgeous views over the tennis court to the surrounding hills.
From dinner through breakfast and lunch, the food was superb, with fillet steak and a white chocolate and ginger cup among the highlights. The staff were helpful and friendly, yet unobtrusive, and the dining and drawing rooms are packed with character and historical features.
The spa is genuinely the best we’ve ever visited, with a talented team of therapists delivering a wide range of treatments. We can recommend the mud room for lots of laughter and something a little bit different! The swimming pool is ozone treated, and the hydrospa jacuzzi is packed with features including powerful water jets which deliver an invigorating neck and shoulder massage. Outdoor hot tubs are perfectly positioned to take in the surroundings, and, with the facilities open until 10pm, we particular enjoyed doing this by torchlight after dinner. With three large tubs, you’ll likely get one to yourself.
After a fabulous stay, I can’t think of anywhere better to de-stress, relax and enjoy a pamper.
