Vacations no longer need to be distant memory for Scotland’s B&B owners

Husband and wife team, Neil and Carol Scott from Auchterarder have a wealth of experience behind their new business, Take a Rest from Your Guests, which offers a locum-style service for owners of guest houses across Scotland and further afield. The couple will step in to look after the running of accommodation, allowing owners to head off on holiday or fulfil family commitments.

‘ We don’t know of anyone else doing this in Scotland,’ says Neil. ‘The difference between Take a Rest from Your Guests and agency relief is that clients will get only us. So they are guaranteed a consistency of service.’

And with 20 years of experience in the hotel trade, guest house owners can rest easy knowing that their business is in safe hands. Neil was an accountant until the couple bought a hotel in Glenmoriston, which they ran for eight years. This was followed by owning a hotel and guest house on Islay, all at VisitScotland four gold star standard and with two AA rosettes. The idea for Take a Rest from Your Guests came while the couple were staying in a guest house in the Cotswolds last year. ‘We assumed that the lady serving us breakfast was the owner,’ explains Neil, ‘but it turned out that she had been doing what we are doing for ten years.
