Loch Lomond Guesthouse & Lodges, Arden
Reviewed by Fiona and Colin MacDonald from Linlithgow
Owners Diane and James know a thing or two about romance – they own The Cruin wedding venue next door – and their guesthouse and lodges have been architect-designed with this in mind. We were offered a warm welcome and they made sure we were settled in and knew how everything worked.
Our lodge was, in fact, a glass walled, wooden clad, garden room; a little haven of luxury nestled among protected woodland. The natural surroundings are reflected with thistle themed decor, tweed fabrics, stone flooring and natural wood furnishings. The space oozes contemporary luxury with a walk in wet room with rain shower, double-ended bath big enough for two, smart TV and a cleverly hidden kitchen. Everything you need to self-cater is provided. However, if cooking is not your thing, a short stroll will lead you to Duck Bay Marina and Cameron House Hotel.
The lodges are perfect for a romantic break, each one a real cosy retreat for two. But if the surrounding natural beauty and solitude are not quite impressive enough, Carrick Spa, romantic loch cruises or an unforgettable trip on a seaplane are right on the doorstep. We went with plans for an action-packed weekend, but were more than happy to snuggle down in our lodge with a good book and a glass of wine.
