Un­cov­er­ing sil­ver

A new ex­hi­bi­tion at the Na­tional Mu­seum of Scot­land will show­case Scot­land’s ear­li­est sil­ver, telling the story of how it be­came the most im­por­tant metal in the coun­try over the course of the first mil­len­nium AD. The ex­hi­bi­tion, pro­duced in part­ner­ship with The Glen­morangie Com­pany, will also in­clude the first pub­lic dis­play of the Dair­sie Hoard, the ear­li­est known ex­am­ple of ‘hack­sil­ver’ from any­where be­yond the Ro­man fron­tier as well as the Gaulcross hoard, dis­cov­ered in Aberdeen­shire in 2013. www.nms.ac.uk
