OVER THE ASKING
A naval gun from one of the world’s most famous historical ships has sold for £17,000 at Thomson Roddick saleroom in Dumfries. Believed to be from the HMS Bounty, the gun was expected to sell for £5,000 to £10,000. It was being sold as part of the estate of businessman Peter Kaye, who died last year. The HMS Bounty was part of a mutiny in 1798, which later sank with four of the guns, which were recovered later. One of them made its way to Scotland in 1913.
