FROM RUGBY PLAYER TO OUTLANDER FOR ACTOR CRAIG

Scottish Field met actor Craig McGinlay, a former Scotland under-20 rugby player from Paisley, who hung up his boots after a shoulder injury. He turned to acting by chance, and guest starred in the new series of cult TV show Outlander.

A group was set up to raise funds to try prevent beautiful Kinloch Castle, on the Isle of Rum, from crumbling away. Built by industrial­ist George Bullough at the end of the 19th century as a shooting lodge, fundraiser­s want to preserve it and re-open it as a hostel, bar and bistro.
