Katrina’s advice on how to restore a period property

Scottish Field - - A STOCKBRIDGE TOWNHOUSE -

1. Consider the flow of the property’s layout, the direction of light and the south-facing aspect. 2. Use contemporary finishes in kitchens and bathrooms, but use quality materials including natural products where possible. 3. Restore features to enhance the period feel and embellish where appropriate, but maintain the intrinsic character. 4. Remove clogged layers of paint from cornices, woodwork, and stone floors to reveal the articulation of the original design. 5. Make sure your personal touch is included in the final design.
