TRIED AND TESTED
WHAT IS IT?
Weird Fish Beatrix Waxed Finish Waterproof Coat, RRP £100, www.weirdfish.co.uk
I WANT IT BECAUSE:
It’s perfect for wet, winter days and this waterproof coat looks great too.
USEFUL FOR:
Robust enough for winter dog walks, but stylish enough for a trip to the shops.
HIGH POINT:
It’s not so thick that you can’t layer up underneath. So although it will keep you warm and dry, you won’t end up a sweaty mess on milder days or brisk walks.
LOW POINT:
Sizing is on the big side.
WHAT IS IT?
Haglöfs Skuta Mid Proof Eco. £120. www.haglofs.com
I WANT IT BECAUSE:
It’s an incredibly comfortable hiking boot with a wide forefront fit for added comfort.
USEFUL FOR:
All manner of hiking, but they’re also presentable enough for everyday wear. At just 475g they are light yet sturdy.
HIGH POINT:
They’re waterproof, while some technical elements (such as high abrasion resistance rubber on the heel for durability) are very good.
LOW POINT:
I’m not convinced by the aesthetics of the plastic mesh across the toes.
