A COAT BY ANY OTHER NAME

-

In Alan Cochrane's column [A Touch of Frost, March 2019] I noticed that he used the phrase, 'donning amazing coats and anoraks'.

After my teaching lesson on one occasion I asked a boy to remember his anorak. He looked at me blankly. Seemingly 'anorak' to young people has a different meaning and they think of it as a term for a stupid person. I couldn't believe this so I asked another class and got the same reply.

Recently our church had a notice asking for donations of coats or anoraks and were asked to re-word it! Lorna M Taylor, Aberdeen
