TRIED AND TESTED
WHAT IS IT?
Fjallraven Barents Pro Women’s Trousers (also available for men). RRP £135. www.fjallraven.co.uk
I WANT IT BECAUSE:
I feel like I can go anywhere and (pretty much) do anything in these comfortable but robust wind and waterproof trousers.
USEFUL FOR:
Trekking. Designed for Scandinavia, but perfect for Scotland.
HIGH POINT:
These trousers are practical but they look good too with lots of handy pockets.
LOW POINT:
They come with a ‘raw leg length’, which means they are really long and you need to alter them to fit before you can go off adventuring.
WHAT IS IT?
Haglofs Skuta Mid Proof Eco Men. RRP £120. www haglofs.com
I WANT IT BECAUSE:
This is exactly the sort of all-purpose walking boot I like to keep in the back of the car for impromptu hikes. It’s also comfortable and presentable enough to wear in normal life.
USEFUL FOR:
Walking. The Scandis are big on comfort and this is a classic example – they are waterproof, have a wide forefoot fit for extra comfort, plus a reinforced toe and heel for added stability.
HIGH POINT:
It’s ecologically sound in that it’s flurocarbon-free.
LOW POINT:
The plastic mesh across the front of the foot looks a bit rubbish and doesn’t really fit with the highquality look of the rest of the boot.
