SEAFOOD FACTS

-

Seafood averages less than 2% fat. All seafood is low in kilojoules, with fewer kilojoules than even the leanest meat or chicken. Oysters have a three chambered heart, colourless blood and a pair of kidneys. Crab meat is high in vitamin B12 which prevents anemia and keeps our nerve and blood cells healthy. Scallops have eyes which detect light, dark and motion. • The Blue Mussel is the most common mussel found in Scotland. Prawns can live for two to three years.
