THE PECKING ORDER

A young eagle at a reintroduction site in southern Scotland has died after being attacked by another eagle in behaviour not previously seen. In August, three satellite-tagged male eagles were released by the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project. A female that was released last year returned to the site and was aggressive towards the young males. She seems to be responsible for one of their deaths.
