Farmers vs climate change
A new agriculture transformation programme to help farmers contribute positively in the fight with the climate emergency has been unveiled by the Scottish Government. Scottish Land & Estates and WWF Scotland have previously called for such a fund to be established. Farmers say that they are increasingly feeling the impacts of a changing climate but with the right support, they can be a vital part of the solution to the issue. They say there is a significant untapped opportunity in the agriculture sector to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions but high upfront costs represent a significant barrier to uptake.
