DISTILLERY TOASTS ITS TWEED

-

A teenager has designed a tweed for the Isle of Harris Distillery. Fourteen-year-old Scott Murray’s design was woven following a consultation with designer Judy R Clark. The distillery worked on the project with Harris Tweed Hebrides and the Harris Tweed Authority (HTA). Jackets made from the tweed are going on sale, with a limited number of made-to-measure jackets available through the distillery for £750 each. Lorna Macaulay, the HTA’s chief executive, said: ‘It comes as great comfort to those of us in the industry that there are young islanders coming through who clearly have the skill and interest to continue in their generation what those 150 years ago started.’ harrisdistillery.com
