TRIED AND TESTED
WHAT IS IT? Osprey’s Rolling Transporter 90. RRP £220. www.ospreyeurope.com
I WANT IT BECAUSE: My wonderfully comfortable and durable backpack is made by Osprey, so now I need a ski bag I’m returning to this US company.
USEFUL FOR: This lightweight (3.5kg), soft case bag works for transporting all manner of gear, although I bought it primarily for skiing. It holds 90 litres, has internal document pockets, and is waterproof.
HIGH POINT: Durability. The large wheels and dragging/lifting handles are reassuringly sturdy.
LOW POINT: I’ve used mine on several trips and it’s held up well, but some reports suggest that it is prone to sustaining damage when roughly handled by airlines.
WHAT IS IT? Montane’s Dart Zip Neck base layer, RRP £38. www.montane.com
I WANT IT BECAUSE: It’s getting chilly and this lightweight base layer is soft, durable and can be worn under a shirt or jumper.
USEFUL FOR: Everyday use and working outside. Also good for skiing, climbing and walking.
HIGH POINT: Its dual layer Apex D-Fuse fabric is exceptionally soft next to the skin. It’s breathable, wicks away sweat, protects against sunburn with its 40+ UPF protection, and has an odour resistant finish which makes multiday use more tolerable.
LOW POINT: None really, in fact this is one of the best base layers I’ve ever used.
