Silent distillery demand
A collection of 74 bottles of whisky from the silent Caperdonich distillery on Speyside raised just shy of £43,000 at a recent sale through the Whisky Auctioneer website. Caperdonich opened in 1897 as ‘Glen Grant Number 2’ distillery, before being renamed in 1967. The site was demolished in 2011. A total of 9,098 lots were sold during the auction, bringing in £3.3 million, a record for the website’s monthly whisky sales. More than 2,300 buyers from 59 countries took part in the auction. whiskyauctioneer.com
