North Ronaldsay’s sheep get help from a prince

The Prince’s Countryside Fund has given a further grant to the Orkney Sheep Foundation to help preserve North Ronaldsay’s sheep dyke. A 12-mile drystane wall circles the island, keeping its native sheep on the shore to eat seaweed. The fund – which was launched by Prince Charles, the Duke of Rothesay, in 2010 – had awarded a grant of £15,000 to the North Ronaldsay Trust in 2018 to support a ‘gateway house’, in which newcomers can stay. princescountrysidefund.org.uk
