Royal photograph in focus

A signed photograph of the royal family was snapped up for £1,450 at an auction held by Lindsay Burns in Perth. The portrait was taken in 1937 by Dorothy Wilding in London. It featured King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, along with their daughters, Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret. All four members of the royal family signed the picture. The photograph eclipsed its pre-sale estimate of between £500 and £800. Other items sold during the auction included a pair of Art Deco diamond earrings by Cartier, which fetched £8,300.
