Glenalmond College
Discover Glenalmond – an Extraordinary Place to Learn
Glenalmond College is an extraordinary place to learn. From the first glimpse of the school buildings through the trees as you drive up Front Avenue, visiting families get a sense of what sets Glenalmond apart and when they then speak with staff and pupils, they start to really understand why this is an exceptional place to learn.
Glenalmond has earned an excellent reputation for academic success and offers A-levels, Highers and GCSEs and a wide range of subjects. Most of the teaching staff live on the school’s stunning campus and they are totally committed to ensuring the potential of each child is reached in full. The school roll of around 360 means every child is known individually and has the opportunity to find his or her niche via an exciting range of activities.
With 300 acres of grounds, including an outdoor classroom, there is a long list of activities to do. A snapshot includes: Duke of Edinburgh’s Award; kayaking; Munro-bagging; rifle shooting; orienteering; bushcraft; archery; fishing; horse-riding; mountain biking; and lots more.
The school has a Combined Cadet Force – with Army, Navy and RAF sections – and an active Eco-Group, currently creating a wildflower meadow. Pupils take part in a range of charity activities, including a 24-hour cycle in our Quad last year which raised £4,000 for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
The new indoor Golf Hub, complete with simulation screens, is a popular indoor alternative to our 100-year-old James Braid-designed nine-hole golf course. And there are orchestras, choirs, academic societies, debating, drama, art and lots more.
Glenalmond has two simple aspirations for its pupils. We want them to be happy and we want them to have clear values and the courage to stand by them. Pupils leave Glenalmond proud of their school with respect for others as well as lifelong friends.
