KAREN DUNCAN

Coming from a long line of craftspeople, Karen was the first jeweller in Orkney to become a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen.

Inspired by the Orkney landscape, Karen creates distinctive and beautifully finished pieces. From her workshop on the island of Burray, Karen develops new designs and applies her keen eye and craft skills to making one-off commissions and remodelling existing pieces.

Karen’s versatility, materials and attention to detail result in jewellery made with passion, care and precision, delivered from her home to yours.

NUMBER FIVE GOLDSMITHS

Re-designed for the next generation this was a very special Commission by Claire Donald.

This stunning, natural Emerald Crystal that ‘grew’ into a ring. Set in 18ct Yellow Gold, with two little Diamonds, I wanted to show the beauty of this uncut crystal in its natural form and give a sense that it wasn’t made…it grew.

The sculptural piece has a unique feel and is one of a kind. Examples of Claire’s work along with other leading contemporary designers can be seen at Number Five in Perth. Number Five, 17 High Street, Perth, PHJ1 5JS

AURORA ORKNEY

Founded in 1997 by master craftsman Steven Cooper, Aurora has grown to become one of the leading jewellery businesses in Orkney, with a reputation for producing truly unique silver and gold pieces influenced by the history, landscapes and culture of the islands.

Steven works closely with his designers to create Aurora’s distinctive jewellery, with every piece made and hand finished to the very highest of standards by a small, close-knit team at the firm’s workshop overlooking Scapa Flow.

Goldsmith Stuart Thomson has over 40 years’ experience working in the jewellery industry and he is responsible for bringing unique bespoke creations to life. Based in luxury jewellers, Laings, in the Glasgow workshop he works closely with their jewellery designers to create intricate and showstopping pieces for customers who are looking for something truly personal.
