I WANT IT BECAUSE: I walk my dogs twice a day so need durable, warm and comfortable wellies, even for long walks – which is very much the Burford’s reputation.

USEFUL FOR: Shooting, dog walks, gardening. Nice leather trim and adjustable calf fasteners.

HIGH POINT: The waterproof vulcanised rubber keeps your feet dry, EVA midsole gives comfort, moisture-wicking layer delivers durability, 3.5mm neoprene lining keeps feet warm in winter. Special odour-eating layer keeps it fragrant.

LOW POINT: Slightly stiff heel. Comes up small, so order a size too big.

I WANT IT BECAUSE: Gas provides more control and is quicker. Of this type of BBQ, it and the Weber are the brands which seem to have the highest satisfaction ratings.

USEFUL FOR: With three burners it’s perfect for large gatherings,

HIGH POINT: Cooks really evenly and on demand, so avoids flareups. Char Broil’s Tru Infrared system keeps food really juicy. It actually tastes like it’s been cooked with charcoal. The family absolutely love it.

LOW POINT: Takes 2-3 hours to assemble, and came without a hose or regulator (these cost £10). Grease can tend to drip down the legs but is easily cleaned off.
