LIGHT FANTASTIC
Plans to transform Inverness Castle to become a tourism gateway for the Highlands have taken another step forward. The Highland Council has applied for permission to instal new external lighting for the Castlehill site, designed specifically to highlight the castle in the evenings. They also aim to light up the rest of Inverness, with discreet contemporary lighting around the statue of Flora MacDonald, illuminated bicycle stands and ambient lighting. The castle’s transformation is supported by £15 million from the Scottish Government and £3 million in UK Government investment. www.highland.gov.uk
