TRIED AND TESTED
WHAT IS IT? Leather fishing reel cover. £70. www.pecheleather.com
I WANT IT BECAUSE:
Hand-made by a former ghillie on lochs Hope and Naver, this leather reel holder comes in three sizes (chalkstream, sea trout and salmon) and is the perfect Christmas gift for the angler who has everything.
USEFUL FOR: Its sturdiness and suede or lamb fleece lining means your reel is completely protected.
HIGH POINT:
For an extra £5 you can have initials or a date added. The size can also be altered at no extra cost to make sure it’s the perfect fit. He also makes rod covers.
LOW POINT: None.
WHAT IS IT? Sealskinz Waterproof All Weather Shooting Glove. £55. www.sealskinz.com
I WANT IT BECAUSE:
When out shooting or stalking in the cold or wet this glove keeps your hands warm and dry while also providing breathability in extreme conditions. You can also use binoculars without removing the gloves.
USEFUL FOR: Shooting and stalking, but also all outdoor activities and light work.
HIGH POINT:
The top half of the trigger finger hinges back and is kept in place by a strong magnet. The palm and fingers are sheepskin for comfort/grip, the liner is non-slip so doesn’t move or pull out when you take the gloves off.
LOW POINT: Pricey (but worth it).
