RAISING A GLASS

Britain’s most remote pub is under local ownership after being taken over in a community buyout. The Old Forge in Knoydart was put up for sale in January by Belgian Jean-Pierre Robinet, its owner for the last ten years, and local residents came together to discuss the possibility of a community buyout designed to return the pub to being a hub within the community once more. The Old Forge Community Benefit Society Ltd was established by Knoydart residents and was awarded £508,000 through the Scottish Land Fund. www.theoldforgecbs.org
