It’s flying back
A £7.4m project to rebuild Shetland’s worldrenowned bird observatory on Fair Isle has taken a step forward as Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Government announce a funding package totalling £2.35m. The observatory was first established in 1948 and has played a vital role in sustaining the population of Fair Isle. Its predecessor was destroyed in a fire in March 2019. www.hie.co.uk
