Farmer John rewarded for his work

The important role of farmers and landowners in protecting the environmen­t has seen farmer John Tullie from Teviothead, near Hawick, chosen as the 2021 Tweed Forum River Champion. Now in its sixth year, the accolade rewards an individual from the Scottish Borders or North Northumber­land, from any walk of life, who has an outstandin­g commitment to the protection and enhancemen­t of the natural, built and cultural heritage of the River Tweed catchment. A sheep and cattle farmer for over 45 years, John has developed water, wetland and woodland initiative­s on his land for over a decade.
