I WANT IT BECAUSE: These adjustable and lightweight (200g) poles pack down into three pieces that are just 38cm (15 inches) long and easily fit in your daypack.
USEFUL FOR: Trekking and climbing. They extend from 105cm to 125cm.
HIGH POINT: They also have a three-year no-quibble warranty, plus soft and light cork handles. They have a lock made of forged aluminium, so are very robust. With an airpadded strap for maximum wearing comfort and extended grip zone for steep terrain, these are tailor-made for Scotland’s hills.

I WANT IT BECAUSE: They’re one of Countryfile’s Top 10 Walking Shoes for 2021, Comfortable, reasonablypriced and durable, they are a great entry-level walking shoe. USEFUL FOR: They are designed for beginners and intermediates undertaking day walks, and are a useful alternative to ankle boots.
HIGH POINT: They flex well at the toe and have great protection through rubber toe bumpers. The Protex fabric and suede uppers keep your feet dry in showers (they are water-resisitant, not waterproof). They are light (425g per shoe), and have commendably grippy traction across rocks. LOW POINT: They are a little narrow across the widest point of the foot until the suede stretches with use.
