The High School of Glasgow
Founded in 1124, The High School of Glasgow is Scotland’s oldest independent school. Fast forward almost 900 years, it offers an all-round education to boys and girls aged 3-18 across its Kindergarten, Junior and Senior School.
A dedicated Kindergarten and Junior School in Bearsden fosters curiosity, creativity and exploration both inside the classroom and outdoors. These formative years are critical for development and the Junior School provides a firm foundation for progression, ensuring the best start in life. Primary 7 pupils move to the Senior School a year early, completing their Transitus year in a secondary setting, gaining a competitive edge.
The Senior School in Anniesland enjoys state-of-the-art sporting facilities which include five full-sized rugby pitches and two modern sand and water-based hockey pitches. The acres of green space are often the first impression people have of the school. High quality education is delivered by inspiring teaching staff and this is reflected in stellar academic results each year. At the last diet of Higher exams in 2021, 87.2% of pupils achieved Grade A, with 73 pupils gaining 5 or 6 straight A Highers.
Unrivalled resources including a Drama Theatre, an Art & Design base flooded with natural light, sophisticated science labs and top-notch cooking facilities, help pupils uncover skills and embrace opportunities in a nurturing and flexible environment. Around 40% of pupils play an instrument and many are members of national orchestras and choirs.
