THE POLAR EXPRESS

-

Guy Grieve's latest article [February 2022 edition] about his Arctic experiences was fascinating, and indeed his talk of nostalgia brought some of my own wintery memories back.

As a youngster we lived in Newfoundland, where the winters are long (nine months long), and the ice rain bites your cheeks (the UK's inability to handle two inches of snow is laughable when you realise that the Canadians can still operate well in over 21ft!).

The one thing we didn't do which Guy spoke so fondly of was dog sledding, but perhaps one day we'll return and sled our way to an ice hotel.

It's looking like 2022 may be the year that travel returns. Fingers crossed... Ailsa Roberts, Deeside
