Impressive addition to the collection
A formative work by the renowned painter Peter Doig has been acquired by the National Galleries of Scotland. At the Edge of Town is emblematic of Edinburghborn Doig’s inventive style, sensuous colour palette and suggestive imagery – qualities which have set him apart from other contemporary painters. Prices for his works rose steeply early in his career and today they regularly sell for several million pounds. Fortunately, Doig and his family have arranged for Scotland’s national collection to receive the painting, with At the Edge of Town entering via the estate of Bonnie Kennedy, Doig’s first wife. www.nationalgalleries.org
