Border crossing stymied

The Union Chain Bridge, which links Scotland and England, over the River Tweed, is set to be reopened later this summer. Due to the complex nature of the structure and the delicate work required to ensure the bridge is refurbished and restored to its former glory, the works are taking longer than expected. Extensive corrosion had accumulated around the chain eyelets, leading to a large number needing to be completely replaced.
