Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa

Reviewed by Malcolm & Elise Ross and Lara the dog from Galashiels

We were greeted warmly on checking in. After taking all Lara’s requirements (sleeping crate, mattress, day rug, food, bowls, medication – almost as bad as going on holiday with a baby!) up to our lovely room we brought Lara into the hotel where she was fussed over by the receptionist and the porter – as they did with all dogs.

Our room was indeed lovely with a big comfy bed, a machine for making proper coffee and a supply of teabags and milk, a large TV disguised as a mirror and a separate luxurious bathroom. The car park has four charging points as well as ample space.

There was an option to bring Lara to the bistro at mealtimes but we left her in her crate and had our breakfast and dinner in the dining room. Both meals had extensive menus to choose from, including veggie options. Service was efficient with pleasant and chatty waiting staff. A wine list was offered at dinner with wine available by the glass as well as carafes and bottles. Food quality was excellent with some less common pairings being offered and enjoyed.

The spa has an indoor pool, jacuzzi and steam room and an outdoor jacuzzi and sauna.

The hotel is a ten-minute walk from Inverary where there are shops, bars, tourist attractions and hotels. The stony beach in front of the hotel was very attractive to Lara with lots of good sniffs and shallow water to paddle through. Reception printed off some suggested walks for us. Our favourite was in the Inverary Castle estate.

Lara enjoyed her stay as much as we did – a luxurious, dog-friendly hotel and spa to be recommended.
