Fettes College offers full boarding, with all senior school students – day and boarding – being part of a boarding House. The boarding Houses at Fettes are central to our lives; the day doesn’t end at 4.00pm and the weekends are full and vibrant. They love their day students; they are part of the boarding Houses, and every opportunity is completely open to them, but a full boarding ethos is at their core. Lifelong friendships are made, trust is fostered, and loyalty forged. One student said, ‘I look back on the sense of community and togetherness that the House system fostered in each of us, and appreciate how lucky we were to grow up in such a fun and thriving environment.’
Their award-winning catering team pride themselves on making and serving wholesome, varied and flavoursome food and create a friendly, family atmosphere for all students in the Dining Hall.
A plethora of superb facilities are also available to students on the 100-acre campus. Examples include a climbing wall, 25m swimming pool, fives courts, Olympic standard water-based hockey astro pitch, mountain biking tracks, recently adding robotics, Fettes Radio and the fantastic Low Ropes course which provides a unique challenge in developing leadership skills, trust and the importance of working together as a team. At Fettes, students are actively encouraged to give everything a go – unless they try what is on offer, they may never know what they could have achieved, the people they could have met or the fun they could have had.
