O nce again, the UK’s biggest fishing megastore is playing host to its famous Glasgow Angling Centre Spring Open Weekend event, being held on March 3rd, 4th and 5th – and it’s already looking like being the best one held yet.

The major event sees the team at GAC making a few changes to the usual format, where all the famous brands and anglers will once again be in attendance. All the latest products will be on show, and you can seek advice from experts across the whole of angling, who will talk you through anything you need to know.

If you have visited one of these events, then you will know that GAC always goes that little bit further for customers who attend, with prices slashed in every department.

On top of all the weekend-only super deals, you will even get a £5 credit back for every £50 you spend at the tills. Don’t forget, you can also pick up a no-purchase-necessary freebie just by pre-registering your attendance online prior to the event using the link on its website – check out the GAC blog for more details.

During the three days, GAC hosts a spectacular angling event in and around its massive 30,000sqft store, where dedicated anglers travel from all over the UK and further afield to pick up some of the thousands of special deals on offer.

There’s also free advice from the people in the know, and the opportunity to rub shoulders with famous anglers like Paul Young, Hywel Morgan, Scott Mackenzie, Ian Gordon and many more.

Every major brand in the tackle industry will be represented, promoting all the latest products, and their representatives will be on hand to answer all of your questions on what to buy and how to get the best out of your gear.

You can easily spend a whole day in the store, which has free parking for hundreds of cars, along with toilets, seating, onsite catering and refreshments, so you can take your time and peruse this ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of fishing tackle.

There’s so much to see and do. You’ll meet loads of like-minded anglers, and if you’ve got some questions about tactics or technique, it’s the perfect opportunity to pick the experts’ brains for tips.

LARGEST TACKLE RANGE

Glasgow Angling Centre has been trading since 1988 and now boasts the largest range of fishing tackle and clothing in Europe, with almost 45,000 items on display and more than 50 knowledgeable staff to assist you in its huge showroom.

Hundreds of rods line the racks, already fully set up for you to check out, or even try out on the three-metre outdoor casting pool or the nearby canal basin. An equally large number of reels to suit all types of angling are on display, too, with the vast majority on show for you to actually touch and feel.

Row upon row of clothing for angling and the outdoors line the walls from floor to ceiling, with an unrivalled choice to keep you warm, dry and comfortable, whatever the weather conditions. A massive range of waders and boots from all the major brands means there is something suitable for every budget, while the UK’s largest selection of beach casters, rigs, terminal tackle and clothing is available.

There is a wide selection of books, DVDs and unbeatable deals on magazine subscriptions, such as Sea Angler.

GAC has recently became the home of Just Fish and Shoot, a fantastic range of fishing and shooting themed gifts, novelties and homeware – check out the unique range at www.justfish.co.uk or check it out instore.

LOADS TO SEE AND DO

It’s not all about buying new fishing gear. There is a lot to see and do over the three days.

GAC has long been one of the country’s top sea tackle retailers, and this event will host a great line-up of brands from the shore and boat angling scene, including Tronix pro, Daiwa, Century, Abu Garcia, Penn, Shimano, Cox & Rawle, to name but a few.

Top anglers such as George Cunningham, Dave Barham, Steve Souter, Bill Buckley and Jake Schogler will be on hand to give advice and share tips on sea angling trends.

There will be workshops on baits, rig building and LRF fishing – the hottest sector in sea fishing. See the latest sea fishing lures in
