GARMIN UPDATES ITS ECHOMAP SERIES
Marine Electronics manufacturer Garmin has upgraded its ECHOMAP series of chartplotters primarily by adding touchscreen capability to the units – something which enhances its usability.
In addition to this they come with built in Garmin Navionics+ mapping (1 year subscription included), support for Ultra HD sonar and their amazing LiveScope scanning sonar.
And it really is because you get real-time sonar imagery of fish and structure below and around the boat up to 200ft down, which we’ve reviewed in previous issues.
Exhomap comes in 6”, 7” or 9” bright, sunlight-readable touchscreen display with a keyed assist which allows for zooming in or out on the map or quickly toggling between different views.
The ECHOMAP UHD2 chartplotters are compatible with Ultra High Definition transducers that provide brilliant ClearVü™ and SideVü™ scanning sonar images and amazingly clear CHIRP traditional sonar. As always Garmin offers the choice of 16 vivid colour palette options, so it’s easier to distinguish fish and structure based on the user’s preferences and fishing conditions.
GARMIN NAVIONICS+
The built-in Garmin Navionics+ charts for U.K, Ireland and the Netherlands is an all-in-one cartography solution designed to guide boaters on the water, or quickly lead anglers to new fishing marks. It also features colour-shaded target depth ranges, up to 1ft depth contours, shallow water shading and access to ActiveCaptain® community content for valuable insight on points of interest, along with recommendations and advice from fellow boaters.
The Auto Guidance+ technology³ available on smart devices allows for faster route calculations and improved routing detail. After selecting departure and arrival points, Auto Guidance+ creates a suggested route for mariners to follow to their destination.
WI-FI
The Wi-Fi connectivity allows for wireless sharing of sonar and data across multiple devices. You can wirelessly stream sonar and share user data, such as waypoints and routes, between two ECHOMAP UHD2 units. Users who already have an ECHOMAP UHD or an ECHOMAP Ultra chartplotter on board can add a new ECHOMAP UHD2 and take advantage of the wireless networking capabilities across the full system.
The ECHOMAP has been redesigned with their usual clean and classic touchscreen with keyed assist interface; the user interface and graphics provides a modernised look with intuitive handling and control. The newly redesigned quick-release brackets make it simple to remove the unit from the boat at the end of the day.
