30: HASTINGS HANGOVER MATCH 40 anglers

■ Result: 1st Colin Crosby Hastings 12 fish 7lb 3oz (4); 2nd Phil lee Sussex 6 fish 6lb 7oz (3); 3rd Ralph Crosby Hastings 4lb 4oz (2). Zone winners: ZB, Mark Rogers, Maidstone, 2lb 14oz; ZB, Tom Wells, Deal, 2lb 5oz. Heaviest fish was a flounder weighing 1lb 1oz, caught by Mark Rogers.

30: COMMERCIAL SAC OPEN, WITHERNSEA, IN AID OF RNLI 76 anglers

■ Result: 1st Paul Smith, Withernsea, 3.735kg cod (not registered); 2nd Lee Smith, Hull, 2.72kg cod (6); 3rd Craig Sagar, Leeds, 2.265kg cod (not registered).

29: HOLT SAC ROCKET HOUSE OPEN, KELLING, 19 anglers

■ Result: 1st Mike Watts, Fakenham, 55 fish, 601 points (1); 2nd Roger Cunnington, Cromer, 38 fish, 537 points; 3rd Mike Topping, Lodden, 34 fish, 385 points.

28: LEINSTER LEAGUE, WICKLOW IRELAND, 37 anglers

In a strong south-west wind whiting and dabs were the main quarry with some coalies and dogfish also showing.

■ Result: 1st Des Farrelly, South Shore (3); 2nd Ryan Blair, Larne (2); 3rd John Hughes, South Shore (2).

27: HOLT SAC, SALTHOUSE, 11 anglers

■ Result: 1st Paul Marshall, Corby, 44 fish, 787 points (1); 2nd Dave Shorthouse, Kettering, 31 fish, 595 points; 3rd Chris Spall, Westleton, 27 fish, 511 points.

27: HORNSEA SAC OPEN, SEWERBY STEPS TO PAULL LIGHTHOUSE 41 anglers

■ Result: 1st Matty Sabiston, Grimsby, cod 2.175kg (not registered); 2nd Paul Medd, Peterborou­gh, cod 1.80kg (3); 3rd Kevin Richardson, Burton, cod 1.55kg (not registered). Junior winner: 1st A Smith, cod 0.675kg.

27: WEYMOUTH ANGLING SOCIETY BANGERS & BEANS HARBOUR OPEN 25 anglers

■ Result: Top weight with a conger of 10lb 9oz went to Junior angler Mika Attwood Weymouth (2); 2nd Dave Lane, Weymouth, with a conger of 7lb 12oz (1); 3rd Alen Jones, Weymouth, (not registered) with a tub gurnard of 185g.

26: HASTINGS & ST LEONARDS AA BLACK CAT CHARITY OPEN, 14 anglers

■ Result: 1st Jack Slaughter, 4 dogfish for a total of 5lb (not registered); 2nd Ralph Crosby; Hastings; 4lb 2oz; 3rd Tim Relf, Hastings, 3lb 3oz.

18: ST SERFS SEA ANGLING CHRISTMAS OPEN SHORE COMPETITIO­N, ST. MONANS TO ST. ANDREWS, 132 anglers

■ Result: 1st David Cooper, Edinburgh, 8lb 2oz (13); 2nd Stuart Ballantyne, Ardrossan, 7lb 2oz (not registered); 3rd Rab Gallagher, Glenrothes, 6lb 8oz (11); 4th Thomas Slow, Edinburgh, 6lb 6oz (10); 5th Mike Horn, Kirkcaldy, 6lb 6oz (9). Heaviest fish: cod, 6lb 8oz, R Gallagher.

18: THE CHRISTMAS FLOUNDER FIR & FEATHER, LOUGHOR ESTUARY 74 anglers

■ Result: 1st and catching the only fish of the match, Martin Trick, Swansea, 1 flounder, 448g (not registered).

18: SPLASH SPORT FISHING TACKLE & BAIT CHRISTMAS OPEN, SALTCOATS PROMENADE 39 anglers.

■ Result: 1st Brian Maxwell, Saltcoats, 12 fish, 350cm (3); 2nd Scott McCartney, Prestwick, 7 fish, 206cm (2); 3rd Bob Hope, 5 fish for 145cm (not registered). Longest fish: coalfish 35cm, John Dixon and Stanley Lynn.

11: WEYMOUTH ANGLING SOCIETY CHRISTMAS FAYRE OPEN, 25 anglers

The sub-zero temperatur­e had an impact on the fishing with it being a shallow venue; however, four did manage to catch.

■ Result: 1st Colin Erscott, 35cm bass (not registered); 2nd Pete Hegg, Portland, Plaice 27cm (1). 11: BRAAS OPEN PAGHAM, 18 anglers

A difficult day for the anglers as only one returned fish to the scales.

■ Result: 1st Andy May, Bedhampton, 2 flounders, 30cm and 27cm for 53 points (1).

11: EAST ANGLIAN TEAMS OF FIVE AND OPEN, ALDEBURGH, 57 anglers

Really tough conditions greeted the anglers: a frozen beach, a calm, clear North Sea and high pressure. This was a bait provided match so all anglers had 1 pack of blacks, 10 squid and two mackerel for bait. Given the conditions a few harbour rag would have been nice, but it was a level playing field for all anglers and very economical at £10 per angler.

■ Result: 1st Mark Wilson, Lowestoft, 14 fish, 127 points (not registered); 2nd Liam Roper, Aldeburgh, 8 fish, 104 points (4); 3rd Mark Banham, Ipswich (junior), 11 fish, 98 points. Zone winners: Z1 Richard Burt, Clacton, (2). Z2 Barry Diaper, Stowmarket (2). Z4 Mark Ward, Ipswich (2). Biggest fish was a 40cm codling landed by Liam Roper.

11: NORTH NORFOLK NATIONAL SEA LEAGUE ROUND 3, CLEY, 20 anglers

■ Result: 1st Mike Watts, Fakenham, 12 fish, 116 points (2); 2nd Mike Topping, Lodden, 9 fish, 62 points (1); 3rd Jack Topping, Lodden, 4 fish, 61 points.

11: DEAL 1919 ANGLING CLUB CHRISTMAS TURKEY MATCH, DEAL BEACH AND PIER, 53 anglers

The match was scored on sizeable fish only counting but there were a lot of undersize fish there so it made it a very busy five hours.

■ Result: 1st Saul page, Deal, 75 fish 1272 points (5); 2nd Joshua Robinson, 48 fish 902 points (not registered), 3rd Nathan Elliott, Dover, 38 fish, 772 points (3). Four-man team winners were the Misfits: Neil Creed, 458 points; Luke McNicholas, 511 points; Nathan Elliott, 772 points; and Saul Page, 1272 points, for a combined total of 2879 points.
