fall festivities
Fall is a time for festive family fun and, as the crowds calm and the weather cools, Kissimmee is gearing up for one of the highlights of the year: Halloween, promising more treats than tricks for travellers visiting at this time.
But Halloween isn’t the only reason to visit Kissimmee during the autumn, it’s also the season for food and drink, with numerous festivals taking place, and the changing leaves adding a touch of russet splendour to this region of Florida.
Halloween happenings
Clients are in for a scream with Halloween Horror Nights™ at Universal Orlando Resort™, taking place select nights from September 14 to November 3. The event will feature horror movies of the 1980s, including a haunted house inspired by Netflix’s sci-fi thriller Stranger Things.
Young families may be more suited to Mickey’s Not-SoScary Halloween Party, from August 17 to October 31 at the Magic Kingdom® Park. Here, children can get close to their favourite characters in their spookiest attire, plus the Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular show will return. SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular® runs at weekends from September 22 to October28 and LEGOLAND® Florida Resort is hosting Brick or Treat on select nights from October 6 - 31.
Foodie fest
Visitors can feast on culinary creations from more than 30 global food and beverage marketplaces at the 23rd Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival (August 30 -November 12), while families will love Partin Ranch Corn Maze where they can combine local food with hay rides and getting lost.
Visitors to Celebration Town’s Oktoberfest (October 19-20) can sip a beer while watching a spectacular seasonal colour change happen in front of their eyes. And for evening entertainment there’s the recently re-opened Pirates Dinner Adventure, or everything from live jazz to flamenco dancers at Matador Tacos and Tacos Bar.
Fall fashion
Those in need of a fashion fix for the colder season are spoilt for choice no matter what their budget. New retailers include Invicta’s collection of hand-crafted timepieces at Orlando International Premium Outlets and Swarovski at The Florida Mall.
