Coasting along in Western Australia
TEN UK travel agents and incentive winners experienced the food, wine, culture and wildlife of Western Australia on a special fam trip.
The itinerary, put together by Tourism Western Australia in partnership with Qantas, gave agents the chance to fly out on Qantas' ground-breaking non-stop service to Perth, which launched earlier this year, followed by a trip to Ningaloo Reef.
Highlights included Perth's new developments such as Elizabeth Quay, wine tasting in the Swan Valley, meeting quokkas on Rottnest Island and snorkelling through the amazing marine environment at Ningaloo Reef, one of the world's longest fringing reefs – an experience that included an exhilarating encounter with gentle giants like whale sharks and manta rays.
"Our fam trip to Western Australia was an eye opener as to what WA offers", said Jo Connolly, Assistant Manager, Flight Centre.
"The trip as a whole really impressed me; exploring Perth and Ningaloo and seeing how much it offers was fantastic.
"Experiencing what our customers would on this tailor-made trip really has emphasised how important day trips and tours are to make the perfect holiday. From cycling around Rottnest Island to Segway tours around Freemantle to wine tasting our way down the Swan River, these tours really are what make a holiday unforgettable.
"I love that I now have the skills to sell this on to my customers."
Felipe Francisco, Senior Marketing Executive UK, Tourism WA added: "We were delighted to host another fantastic fam trip in partnership with Qantas, showcasing the new direct flight, all the amazing new developments in Perth and the UNESCO World Heritagelisted Ningaloo Reef. We are confident that by experiencing the destination first-hand agents are better equipped to talk about it with their clients and are more passionate about all that Western
Australia has to offer."
