Many UK travellers fly into Denver and travel to points north and west. By not exploring areas south of Denver, including Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region, they are missing an awe-inspiring part of the state and one of the most unusual national parks in the country, the Great Sand Dunes National Park.

What is one of your own favourite Colorado Springs experiences?

Garden of the Gods Park is in my backyard. My favourite place to hike, it is where the grasslands of the Great Plains meet the woodlands characteristic of the American Southwest, while merging with the mountain forest of the 4302-metre Pikes Peak.
