Temples and tunnels with Titan
Floating along the tranquil waters of Halong Bay, exploring the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An and walking amongst stony giants at Angkor Wat were just some of the highlights of a 14-day Essential Vietnam and Cambodia tour with Titan Travel.
To mark its 40th anniversary, Titan hosted 20 competition winners on a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. Starting in Hanoi, Vietnam, the group headed east to Hoi An then Ho
Chi Minh in the south, and finished in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
After arriving, the agents visited the National Museum of Fine Art and Ngoc
Son Temple followed by a walking tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, navigating through the thousands of bikes buzzing around the city – a sight to behold when witnessed from the safety of the pavement!
Leaving the city bustle behind, the agents travelled south for a five-hour cruise on Halong Bay accompanied by a seafood lunch and a view of passing limestone cliffs, described as a 'once in a lifetime experience' by some in the group.
“I cannot thank Titan enough for the opportunity to join the trip and will 100% be recommending this tour and
Titan as a company.
It’s hard to pick a favourite experience – the memories I made will last a lifetime,” said one agent.
A short flight from
Hanoi transported the agents to pretty Hoi An, known for its tailor shops. The narrow streets are a shopper’s paradise, with colourful trinkets and clothes made to measure. The agents were welcomed into traditional houses before enjoying authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Heading further south, the itinerary offered agents the chance to familiarise themselves with Vietnam’s war history through a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels. This network of underground tunnels spanning thousands of miles was used to house troops and transport supplies during the Vietnam war. Booby traps were used to safeguard entire communities living underground.
The first sighting of Cambodia came on day 10 of the trip as the group flew into Siem Reap, home to the temples of Angkor Wat. Tours of the archaeological park are extensive and include some 70 temples and ruins. It’s an archaeological wonder and a highlight on any Cambodia itinerary.
Ending the trip on a high, the agents took to the water once more, this time on the serene Tonlé Sap Lake in the middle of Cambodia, stopping to visit a floating village and learn about local crafts and village life.
“This was such a great fam trip and the agents were fantastic. The highlight for me was sailing around Kampong Phluk’s floating village – it was certainly a perfect moment shared,” concluded Titan Travel host Alana Jones.
