Indian Pacific

-

Crossing an entire country by land may seem daunting to some – especially one the size of Australia – but with Journey Beyond’s Indian Pacific guests can sit back and marvel at the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world – and enjoy every second of it!

From coast to coast

Travelling from Sydney to Perth, or vice versa, allows guests to explore the entire breadth of Australia’s Southern land.

By venturing beyond the city skyline, clients can familiarise themselves with Australia’s spectacular yet unforgiving interior. They’ll see incredible outback sunrises, the brilliant desert stars and learn about the legendary adventurers and goldrush prospectors that endured these harsh conditions.

The Sydney to Perth itinerary consists of three nights aboard the Indian Pacific with off-train experiences visiting the classic Australian mining town of Broken Hill, cosmopolitan Adelaide, the abandoned railway town of Cook and dinner under the stars on an outback sheep station at Rawlinna. On the reverse journey from Perth to Sydney guests get to explore the gold mining town of Kalgoorlie, Broken Hill and the spectacular Blue Mountains.

Onboard, guests are treated to menus produced by talented chefs who work closely with local suppliers and farmers to provide the best regional ingredients for a real taste of Australia. Guests enjoy dishes such as saltwater barramundi and grilled kangaroo fillet paired with a world-class Australian wine and, of course, a view of the infinite outback.

The long and short of it

For those who don’t wish to do the entire journey from Sydney to Perth, there are plenty of itineraries that capture the same essence of Australia but cover less ground. A five-day Adalaide to Sydney journey includes two days aboard the Indian Pacific with off-train excursions in Broken Hill and the Blue Mountains, three nights accommodation in Sydney, a day spent in Manly and a tour of Taronga Zoo. Other tours include the nine-day Perth to Adelaide Margaret River Indulgence which features personalised touring with visits to Busselton Jetty, Mammoth Cave, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, local wineries and produce tastings.
