Scottish Labour overruled by UK leadership on supporting WASPI women

Yet again the branch office is ignored. Those who call themselves “Scottish Labour” need to wake up, smell the coffee, vote for independence and stand as a properly constituted Labour or whatever party in the future independent Scotland.

This is our country and we do not share England’s politics – and neither should they.

So, Emily Thornberry thinks it unreasonable for a party expected to form the next government to be asked what their policies are. Fair enough, we all know the reason they want to see the Tories’ response first is so that Labour can copy them! Jim Palmer

With Labour mirroring all key Tory policies, Jim, maybe this is an indication of what they also expect the Tories to say?

Ian Waugh

Something happens to a lot of people when they enter politics. They forget everything they ever knew and toe the party line in order to advance. Every party is the same. Professional, managerial, clones, men or women.

I may be naïve or partisan but I believe we still have some principled politicians in the SNP, Lorna – although we the members have to ensure they stay that way!

Jeremy Corbyn praises Scottish stance on Gaza crisis

Jeremy Corbyn is right about Gaza and right about the cheap Labour manoeuvres to deprive the SNP of their Opposition Day vote. He’s also, I believe, on record as saying Scotland should have a referendum on independence if it wants one.

And he’s always been right to say that you can be against Israel’s policies without being antisemitic. He comes across as more principled in many respects than Keir Starmer. Eric Clive

Jeremy Corbyn’s appreciation of the SNP’s stance on Gaza appears more likely to be jumping on the wagon so that he has a platform where he can speak to the public. When he led Labour, their MPs remained glued to their benches so often while the SNP’s MPs trudged through the division lobby publicly declaring their public opposition to Tory government policies.
