‘We’re pro-Palestine protesters – here’s why boycotting Eurovision matters’

Children with limbs blown o¬ lying in a dystopian landscape while their family lays dead all around them. The emergency services are not going to arrive as they have also been targeted. In the meantime the Israeli contestants are having a super great time singing and dancing to a worldwide audience trying to portray an image of a civilized Western society when nothing could be further from the truth.

Freedom of expression. I don’t have the literary skill to explain my anger and disgust.

I won’t be watching. No way Israel should be there, they should never have been there.

And the contest has become about who is the most camp. Serious songs and singing are now of secondary importance.

Anyway, I’ve got a painted wall to watch dry.

I can only hope that some intelligent activists mange to outwit the security and gain entry. Then, as Israel is about to take to the stage, the activists take control of the central stage.

That would makes headlines to billions across the globe and have their names and actions etched into history.

Cast your mind back to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, where Yes flags and badges were banned. Outside the stadium, Unionists handed out paper flags with St Andrews on one side and Union on the other. I saw that to be political and complained to the Police. Deaf ears. But I couldn’t bring in my Yes flag, one cop wanted to confiscate it if I didn’t put it in my car. A friend had a Yes wallet, went to pay for a burger, police alerted by a steward. Wallet confiscated! How far back do we need to go? When tartan, kilts & Gaelic were banned? PS, can we have a clear statement from Swinney on Palestine – including the West Bank? Free Palestine!

The Israeli entry should have have been barred as Russia was when the Ukraine was invaded. Palestine has no army to defend itself against the Israeli genocide of the ethnic cleansing being conducted by the far-right Netanyahu regime. Israel must be boycotted until it stops murdering Palestinians.
