In 2010 the-then chair of the Fed­eral Re­serve, Ben Ber­nanke, made his own com­mit­ment to so-called quan­ti­ta­tive eas­ing (QE) in the wake of the global fi­nan­cial cri­sis.

In 2014 the cur­rent head of the Euro­pean Cen­tral Bank, Mario Draghi, gave hints of the fi­nan­cial stim­u­lus he would later launch to res­cue eu­ro­zone economies which had been buf­feted by sev­eral sov­er­eign debt crises.
