Busy day for Bor­der Coun­ties pup­pies, ju­niors and novices

Judges: Iris Wright and San­dra Onens Spon­sor: Skin­ner’s The tests were held by per­mis­sion of Mr and Mrs M. E. Goode. The pup­pies and ju­nior han­dlers ran to­gether and the spe­cial pup­pies and the novice dog/novice han­dlers ran to­gether. Each group did five tests.

Test one was a dou­ble seen: the pup­pies and ju­nior han­dlers had seens at right an­gles where the sec­ond thrown (closed side) was col­lected first. The spe­cial pup­pies and the novice dog/ novice han­dlers had longer dis­tances, a nar­rower an­gle and the first thrown (open side) was col­lected first.

In test two, the pup­pies and ju­nior han­dlers had a seen in the wa­ter. The spe­cial pup­pies and novice dog/novice han­dlers had a seen on the edge of an is­land, with two dogs sat up to­gether.

In test three, the pup­pies and ju­nior han­dlers had a heel work ex­er­cise, with a stay, a re­call and a re­trieve. The spe­cial pup­pies and novice dog/novice han­dlers were sent from the wood over a jump into the field for a seen and a blind in the same place.

Test four was a blind along a track and in a gate­way. The pup­pies did this sec­ond and started fur­ther along the track.

Test five had two dif­fer­ent tests. The pup­pies and ju­nior han­dlers had a mini drive, with two birds to be picked out of four from a rough area. The spe­cial pup­pies and novice dog/novice han­dlers had a two-dog walk-up in a game crop with a seen in front and a seen be­hind.
