BASC to hire political officers

-

BASC is to recruit six political officers, to cover four regions of England and Wales, as part of a campaign to protect shooting in the current fractious political climate.

Shooting Times asked BASC’S Christopher Graffius about why the new posts had been created. He said: “The BASC Council has determined that shooting is facing a significant political risk, in particular if there is a snap general election, when we face the possibility of a Government with an antishooting agenda coming to power. That possibility also exists for the planned date of the general election in 2022.

“The Council determined that we should launch a new political campaign focused on improving communication between BASC members, clubs and syndicates and their local MPS and parliamentary candidates, with the aim of giving MPS strong local reasons to support shooting.

“We will be appointing up to six new members of staff as political officers and we aim to have them in place by Easter.”
