AGREE TO DISAGREE ON ‘PEST’ SPECIES
As a countryman, born and bred, I don’t feel the need to open a dictionary but must disagree with Ian Barnett, who lumps all disagreeable types under the one heading (Letters, 3 August).
You see, there are vermin and there are pests, vermin being nasties and pests being nuisances. Knowing this, it becomes harder to find similarities between a grey squirrel and a woodie, apart from their colouring. All the same, both need human control in this our artificial UK.
