KNOW YOUR QUARRY
There are 23 duiker species in the world, including three subspecies, of which 19 are huntable. The name comes from the African word duiker, which means diving. They are divided into two groups based on their habitat: forest duikers and bush duikers. All forest species live in the rainforests of sub-saharan Africa. The blue duiker weighs about 3kg, while the yellow-backed duiker weighs up to 70kg.
The males mark their territories using piles of scat and secretions from glands. Fiercely independent creatures, duikers are quite aggressive when taking care of their territories, which is why calling is common when hunting them.
